Like snowflakes, no two are alike.

Unlike snowflakes, they are a welcome sight of summer. Brightly painted in multiple hues, the wooden fishing boats of Greece are one of its most endearing symbols. While they operate year-round in all but the most windy weather, they
are best appreciated during the warmer months. Then one can sit in a seaside taverna enjoying the fruits of their holds.

However, if you wish to have a permanent view of fishing boats, you might want to talk to a man called Leftheris. He runs a small craft shop on the island of Hydra. There he creates for clients the world over detailed models of these fishing boats. They take two months to a year to make; there is a waiting list; and, while he does have a phone, he doesn’t always pick
it up. So if you want one of his creations you should take a ferry to Hydra.
To reach his shop from the port you will need to get a lift on – what else – a Greek fishing boat.
